Good Morning!
Since our collaborative retreat last week, the team dynamics have taken an exciting turn for the better. Steve and Alice, brought closer by shared experiences, have been enjoying leisurely lunches at the newly opened Gretal's café just a few doors down from our office. Even Douglas, known for his serious demeanour, has noticeably mellowed, seamlessly integrating into our office environment.
To foster even stronger bonds among our team, I initiated a weekly tradition where each member shares insights into their role. Polly, our brilliant project planner, took the stage this week, offering a captivating glimpse into the intricacies of her work. Her presentation covered everything from the initial project concept to the final pump of EnticiGrip© grout, showcasing her remarkable talent for project coordination!
One standout moment from Polly's talk was her recounting of a past project mishap. During the excavation for foundations on a high-profile client's site, we accidentally struck an electric cable, causing a three-day power outage in a nearby town. Miraculously, our groundworker Neil emerged unharmed, as he was clad in a rubber suit. However, the potential project delay loomed large. Polly, demonstrating her expertise, swiftly reprogrammed the entire project. Despite the site team working tirelessly every weekend, we managed to deliver the project a remarkable two weeks ahead of schedule!
Polly's ability to navigate unexpected challenges with grace and efficiency truly cements her as the genius behind our successful project planning. As we continue to unveil the layers of talent within our team, it's evident that our collective strengths and shared experiences are not only enhancing our work environment but also propelling us to new heights of achievement. Here's to more shared lunches, shared insights, and shared successes as we build our professional bonds and break new ground together.
Next week, Steve will be shedding light on his role in business development, I’m excited. All I know is that the office gets a lot of calls from angry women (and sometimes men) asking why he hasn’t called them back! Donna gets really annoyed having to make excuses for him.
Until next week, Rebecca x
